Our story
Keeping amchi heritage alive
Amchi Mangalore is a growing community scrapbook — a place to gather the customs, ceremonies, songs and flavours of the Mangalorean Catholic community, so they are never forgotten.
Why we built this
The Mangalorean Catholic community traces its roots to the Konkan coast, carrying a heritage that beautifully blends Catholic faith with warm coastal-Konkani custom — shaped over centuries and shared through the diaspora across the world.
As weddings shorten from ten days to two, and recipes live only in the memories of our elders, so much can quietly slip away. This site is a small act of preservation: to write it down, to celebrate it, and to pass it on.
It begins with the customs we know best — weddings and the Roce, the baby shower, and the food — and will keep growing.
With gratitude

Have a story, a song or a recipe to share?
This scrapbook grows richer with every family that contributes. Photos of a Roce, a grandmother's recipe, the words to a voviyo — all are welcome.
